The purpose of this survey is to see how New York Hunters feel about the issues we face right now and how they feel about ideas that other States are doing successfully. Many of the questions on the survey are based on the ways that Mid-West States manage their deer herd and deer seasons. Click Here for a Comparison Chart. There is no way to guarantee that everyone who takes the survey hunts in New York. We will assume most do and the data may be shared with other organizations who monitor hunting in New York.

Make the deer take report mandatory. Deny tags to anyone who fails, two years in a row, to report a legal kill. Or do something to make the report requirement a more accurate reflection of the real take or population in the state.

I would rather hunt in NY than in my home state of PA.

The whole state should have antler restrictions, maybe even four points on one side throughout. This is our third year of antler restrictions and I love it. Hopefully it continues and eventually when we all go out to hunt whether its for meat or a trophy we call see some nice mature deer like we do in so many other states. A 3 1/2 year old deer was almost non existant before this all started. For me its not about the meat or the trophy, its about being out there, and if a trophy comes along and I have the opportunity to harvest it, it make for a wonderfull day. Joe 31 3H

should allow crossbow hunting most other states have already passed this. Why should NY be so far behind everyone else on this matter.
