Empire Hunting is an online community for New York hunters to interact and express their personal feelings about hunting in New York State.
Users of the Empire Hunting Website should be aware of the following terms of use regarding how you may use this Website and the information you submit on
Empire Hunting is used.
Open Discussions
New York hunters, and hunters abound, are free to post their comments in our open discussions. All comments are reviewed before they are approved.
Users can post comments in the open discussions anonymously. Personal information such as your name and location are allowed in the event
the person posting comments wants to personalize their comments but they are not required. It is completely the choice of the hunter to post their name
and location and they do so at their own risk. Sensitive information such as email addresses, phone numbers, and, in most cases, Website links are not allowed.
We do our best to make sure they do not appear in the open discussions but it is not impossible for it to get by us. Empire Hunting strongly encourages that
you do not post your email address, phone number, or other personal information in the Empire Hunting open discussions. In the event that your provide your phone
number, email address, or other type of sensitive information in the open discussions then you do so at your own risk.
Empire Hunting does not use any of the information you submit in the open discussions for any purpose other than the Empire Hunting Website.
Surveys
Hunters are free to participate in our online surveys. A hunter is only allowed to take each survey one time based on the IP Address of your computer.
If we have found that the IP address of your computer has already taken the survey then you cannot take it again. An IP Address is just a number that is
assigned to each computer. We do not share your IP address with anyone nor can we, or anyone else, decipher a users personal and sensitive information from doing so.
Empire Hunting does not do anything with your IP address other than use it as a reference on the surveys to see if you have taken them before.
The results of surveys are available to all users of Empire Hunting to see. Often, we do statistical analysis on the results.
Results of this data may also be shared with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation or other respected wildlife agency that is interested in the results.
Success Photos and Stories
New York hunters are free to post their success photos on the Empire Hunting Website. By submitting your photos and stories to us you are giving
us permission to post your photos and stories on the Empire Hunting Website. We do not distribute your photos or stories to any other organizations.
In submitting photos and stories to Empire Hunting, you agree that the photos and stories you submit are yours or that you have
the authority to submit them for a third party. Any legal action brought against Empire Hunting by individuals or organizations who can
prove that materials were posted to the Empire Hunting Website without proper consent or that were flat out stolen will be the responsibility and financial
burden of the individual who provided them to us.
All success photos and stories appear on our Website in a format that allows other users to post comments.
Message Boards
Unlike our open discussions, the Empire Hunting Message Board is more of a traditional online community in that users register, establish a user name,
and can return and interact with other members. Empire Hunting does not use your personal registration information for anything other than the
Empire Hunting Message Boards.
The full privacy policy for the Empire Hunting forums can be viewed when you register to use the forums.
Big Buck Alerts, Newsletters, Digests, Etc...
The Empire Hunting Website contains several periodic notification features such as Big Buck Alerts or the Newsletter that allow people to sign-up
for these notices, confirm their email, and then receive them. We only send notices to those who sign-up and confirm. All users have the
option to have their name removed from the list by automated method in the message or by simply writing to us and asking to be removed.
Posting of Illegal Activities
When you post comments or submit success photos to Empire Hunting you are adding, or making an attempt to add, content in an open community. Empire Hunting
strongly advises anyone posting comments, photos, or hunt stories to the Empire Hunting Website, including the message boards, to be advised that you are, in fact,
posting to an open community. Hunters posting comments and photos detailing illegal activities do so at their own risk.
Laws and Regulations
Empire Hunting makes no warranties as to the validity of comments posted by members of the community. The New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation is the authority on conservation law and regulations in New York State. We strongly encourage users to
confirm any information you find on Empire Hunting regarding laws and regulations with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
In addition, the DEC has the authority to change laws at a moments notice. Information found on Empire Hunting may become out-dated or a special
circumstance arose where a law needed to be changed in quick fashion. Always confirm laws and regulations that you read about on Empire Hunting with the
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Member Abuse
Foul language and harassment is not allowed. Empire Hunting reserves the right to delete posts, disallow comments, or erase any user materials
that are deemed offensive for any reason we see fit. The most extreme violators may face criminal action.
Indemnity
Empire Hunting is not responsible nor can Empire Hunting be held liable for injuries or death you sustain when hunting in New York State.
Empire Hunting is not liable for personal, financial, or physical damages you may endure by information you obtained, people that you have met,
or by providing your personal information to others using the Empire Hunting Website.
