Herzog's Hog! 150 Class Buck, Farmington, New York

Cory, Spring Gobbler, Steuben County, New York
May 20, 2008, Beard was 10" to the longest srand, Spurs were 1 3/8", Weight was approx 20 lbs

It was about 8am and I was walking along a logging road when I spotted him strutting for four hens 80 yards ahead. I Instantly hit the dirt and crawled back about 20 yards and set up a hen decoy and my primos B-mobile fullstrut decoy (with last years fan). I called for about an hour with no response at all. At one point I even crawled to a stump to stand on to try and peek over the rise and couldnt see them.

Frustrated, I got back in my spot and began to Yelp as loud as I could with my mouth call. First a hen answered then a gobble and I knew I was back in the game. Finally I worked them into about 50 yrds with yelps and kee kees. I had my gun trained on the logging road when I noticed a hen heading to my right with the gobbler following her.

With her about 10 yards away and him about 30 yards I shifted carefully so I could shoot. She made a putt, he dropped his strut and stuck his head up and I shot. I was extremely excited and even more so when I saw the length of his Spurs.
