Craig Harder, Spring Gobbler, North Collins, New York
May 1, 2008, 21 LB, 11" beard, 1" Spurs

First time ever hunting this property, but had a hunch and switched from my usual opening day location to this spot. It paid off. I got into the woods in time to hear two mature gobblers, gobbling on the roost within 100 yards of me. I set up and did not make a call until I knew they were on the ground. At that time, I hit he slate call and followed up with a few soft yelps with my mouth call. This is all they could take and came running in. This guy was the biggest of the two. I made it to work by 8:15!!!
