New York Big Buck & Bear Scoring Organizations
The following organizations handle Big Buck & Bear records for New York State and North America. The requirements are briefly outlined with links to the organization to get score sheets and learn more.
 
New York State Big Buck Club - Website
The New York State Big Buck Club is the recognized organization for tracking and scoring New York's biggest whitetails and bear. The entry fee for a deer or bear is $15.00.

To qualify for the New York State Big Buck Club in the Whitetail category your buck must meet the following ANTLER measurement requirements.
  1. Taken with GUN
    • Typical - 140
    • Non-Typical - 165
  2. Taken with BOW
    • Typical - 120
    • Non-Typical - 145
  3. Taken with MUZZLELOADER
    • Typical - 140
    • Non-Typical - 165
The New York State Big Buck Club also handles State records for bear. To qualify for the New York State Big Buck Club in the Bear category your bear must meet the following SKULL measurement requirements.
  1. Taken with GUN
    • 18 inches
  2. Taken with MUZZLELOADER
    • 18 inches
  3. Taken with BOW
    • 17 inches

Pope & Young Club - Website
Pope & Young are the recognized organization for big game taken with BOW ONLY. They handle all North American big game species. The entry fee for Pope & Young is $25.00.

    • 18 inches

Boone & Crocket - Website
Boone & Crocket are an organization that are recognized for keeping North American Big Game records for only the biggest of North American Big Game. Their scoring requirements are a lot higher than other organizations. Entries are regardless of method (firearm or bow).

Recently, Boone & Crocket added an "Awards Category" that has scoring requirements that are less than their standard "All-Time Minimum" requirement. Entries in the "Awards Category" are listed in the Awards book but ARE NOT listed in the North American Big Game Records (i.e. are not considered an all-time record).

    • Awards Minimum
      • Typical 160
      • Non-Typical 185
    • All-Time Minimum
      • Typical - 170
      • Non-Typical - 195
  2. Bear (SKULL measurement)
    • Awards Minimum
      • 20 inches
    • All-Time Minimum
      • 21 inches
