The Empire Deer Hunting Survey
It will take you 5 minutes to complete this survey. It will take you way more than 5 minutes to kill the trophy of a lifetime!
Complete the survey below and add any additional comments you may have. Some of the topics below are issues in New York right now and others are ideas based on the way other States manage their deer herd and deer seasons. The purpose of this survey is to see how New York Hunters feel about the issues we face right now and how they feel about ideas that other States are doing successfully.

This survey is 100% confidential. No personal information is required. The results may be shared amongst other New York State hunting organizations but the results are not tied to any individual. The survey pertains to deer hunting in New York State. We kindly ask that you please do not complete the survey unless you hunt deer in New York State.

#1. Which method do you prefer for increasing the quality of bucks in New York?

#2. Which would you prefer for the Opening day of gun season?

#3. Do you support expanding the areas where hunters can use rifles in New York?

#4. Would you favor a law that made spotlighting deer illegal during any open deer season?

#5. Would you favor a law that makes it illegal for anyone to be in the woods with a firearm during the regular deer season that does not possess an unfilled deer tag?

#6. Under a 2 buck per year system, would you favor a law that says any successful archery hunter who harvested an antlered deer cannot hunt deer with a firearm the first week of firearm season?

#7. Would you favor a law that makes it illegal for anyone to take a white (pie balled) deer?

#8. Would you be in favor of shortening the gun season in New York for ANTLERED deer?

#9. Would you be in favor of completely separating buck & doe season?

#10. In most areas of New York you can take two bucks if you hunt with a combination of Gun, Bow, and Muzzleloader. Would you support a law that says the second buck must have 4 points or more on one side?

#11. Would you like to see the State of New York cease in letting hunters sign DMPs over to one another?

#12. Do you feel the State of New York is doing enough to work with landlowners to keep keep private lands open for hunting?

#13. Are you often surprised at how few times a year you see an Environmental Conservation Officer drive by?

#14. Have you ever known someone who shot a buck and had someone else tag it?

#15. Many hunters cannot get opening day off. Many land owners have so many ask permission to hunt that they have to turn people away. Would you support a regular deer season that was split in to two seasons with the hunter having the choice of one? For example, A short first season, a one week break, and then a second longer season. Hunter gets to choose one.
