Bear Hunting in New York Officially Expanded

Empire Bucks Club Member: RJay Cardinale
Sullivan County (Livingston Manor)
Saturday, November 10, 2007

My biggest buck till date with a bow or rifle for that matter. An 8pt that net scored 121 6/8.

Walking through the woods last year I found this little spot that I thought would be great to put a stand up. That is exactly what I did and until I seen this big boy did not see a deer the whole bow season. This morning was different a light breeze and snow on the ground, you just know it is going to be a good morning.

After first light I took out my grunt tube and did some blind calling. Never really thought calling worked ( only on TV lol) but it really did. This big boy came out of now where at 40 yards and was walking away from me.

I grunted at him one more time and he walked broadside to me at 32 yds. Another thing I found out that works not only on TV is the mouth bleet. Was able to get him stopped and double lung shot dropped him within 50 yds.

I was shooting a Parker Phoenix 32 with a 29 inch draw at 70 lbs with ST Axis arrows and Hell Razor broadheads.
