9 point Buck, 160 lbs dressed, 6" tines, 13" spread,
I am 36 years old and have only been seriously hunting big game for 3 years now.
I have 2 very close friends who are big time hunter who have hunted since they were
youngsters. They got me into hunting again 3 years ago. They got me into Bow & Muzzlehunting
as well.
Last year 2007 was the first time I have ever taken a deer of any sex. I was able to take a
deer in the 2007 season with bow(doe), muzzle(doe) and rifle(spike horn Buck). Lets move into
this year.
Early archery I was able to take my first buck with a Bow, he was a nice 4pt buck
about 110 lbs. I was very happy with that. Since hunting season started we have been out
scouting, using game cameras & hunting just about every weekend. Early october we had been
seeing pics of big 6pts, nice 8's and one pic of a 9pt(this 9pt is the one I shot).
I got
excited because I have never seen bigger deer in the wild like this. All archery season in
southern zone were I shot this 9pt all I was seeing were small bucks, I was starting to
get discuraged. I wanted to take a big one with my bow. Well it did not happen.
Southern
zone rifle opened this weekend and sunday November 16, 2008 at 3:30pm I was able to
harvest the biggest deer I have ever seen with my eyes. I took him with my Remington
model 700, 270cal. My friends and family were very happy for me.
It pays off to get out
and scout and enjoy the wild. I owe alot to my close friends who made alot of this happen
for me. Thanks (Rod & Ted).
