Joe Mecca 2007 New York Big Buck
13 Point; Green score: 187 non-typical; Beams: 27 inches; Spread: 22.5; Tip to Tip: 17; Dressed: 225 pounds

This buck was taken with a 12 gauge shotgun on November 21st, 2007 at about 4:15pm in the woods behind my farm in the Town of Evans. It was rainy all afternoon. When I shot the buck it was a downpour. He was chasing a doe through a field. I saw the doe first and he wasn't far behind. The shot was only 20 yards. He dropped 5 feet from where I took the shot.

The butcher weighed him at 225lbs dressed. The rough score is about 187 non-typical 13 pointer, 27 inch main beams, 22.5 inch inside spread, and 17 inches tip to tip. This was only the 2nd day I'd been deer hunting in 4 years because I was away at college. My dad is picking up the taxidermy bill as a Christmas present.

* Notice the right side of the antlers where a stick or parasite disrupted antler growth.

* Joe's father heard about this website from Will Elliot of the Buffalo News. Thanks Will!
