These topics have been of issue and heavily discussed amongst New York hunters for many years now.
As the title would suggest, they are hot topics with people having very strong feelings about them.
As time has moved on, they have gained attention and are constantly being re-visited by the DEC.
That leaves a trail of information that is hard to keep in one spot. That is what we are trying
to do with this section.
We will do our best to keep you updated regarding the topics below when the latest comes out.

Crossbows
Of all of the changes being discussed to New York's future deer hunting seasons,
this seems to be the one that the DEC is pushing the hardest. The truth is they
have supported deer hunting with crossbows for a long time. It has just never passed.
Here is the latest.
Antler Restrictions (AR)
Our southern neighbor (Pennsylvania) made AR popular although opinions vary as to it's
effectiveness. Like many of the hot issues in New York, you will get very strong feelings from both
sides as to whether or not New York should expand the current antler restriction project
state-wide. Here is the latest information
that we are aware of.
Altering Antlered Deer Seasons
Often discussed amongst New York hunters. New York has one of the longest antlered firearm
seasons and highest antlered limit allowed of most states in the northeast. Buck management
is something the DEC will be looking in to in 2010. Get the latest and pipe in here.
Modifying Deer Seasons Overall
Longer bow season, shorter gun season, vice-versa, early muzzleloader, you have
probably heard it all. Discussed beyond discussed. A few changes have been made
and more may be on the way.
