Frank Degennaro New York Black Bear
The Bear was taken opening day of Archery season in the afternoon. I had seen the Bear earlier that day without a shot. I was hoping to see him again in the afternoon, as he was keeper. In the afternoon, I saw him again and had him within 35 feet of me, but I couldn't get a shot on him because he would not turn broad side. After watching him for about 20 Minutes and drawing on him two to three times, he turned around and must of caught wind of me and started to walk away from me. I knew he was too big not to hit him in the Boiler Room, so I waited on the shot. I stayed behind him and started to follow him through the woods at a safe distance?? if there is such a thing. Finally, when he was just under 30 yards away from me, he turned to look at me broad side. I knew this would be my only shot, I drew and put the green pin behind his front shoulder and double Lunged him catching the heart. He ran about 275 feet to 300 feet crashing through the woods before he dropped. I saw him go down and was so relieved. What an experience, I could write pages but want to keep it short. The Bear was 552 lbs dressed out and 626 lbs. live weight.
