The "Jimmy Buffet" Buck
This buck was taken by Corey Wiktor in Ellicottville, NY. It carried 22 points and officially
scored at 189 1/2.
It will likely be New York's #2 Archery buck of all time. This was the second buck he encountered
that morning. He got busted by a nice 12 point prior to this.
* You can see antler sheds leaning up against the deer in the photo above and photos below.
Those are the sheds from "Jimmy Buffet" the year before.
The Story as told to us by Corey .....
The quest for "Jimmy Buffett" started two years ago, why the name you ask? Well it started when I found his
sheds last March, they were all busted up with 8 scoreable points scoring about 140 inches!! The kicker is
that the one side had nearly 8 inches of palmation, just an unbelievable buck, even at that time. My two
good friends Jimmy Bigaj and David Sabuda and I were looking at the sheds (around a 12 pack of Labbatt Blue)
and David commented on they looked like a piece of driftwood, David being a huge Jimmy Buffett fan and us
dreaming of warmer days, said that will fit, hence, Jimmy Buffett was named.
I scouted and hunted this buck very hard, he was very, very elusive, yet on the same token, very noticeable
at times. I have pictures of him in velvet for two years, he looks like an absolute giant in velvet.
I harvested this buck on Opening Day of New York's Archery season at about 8:30. At 8:15 AM, I did a
rattling sequence and he came in like a bull, thrashed a crab apple tree in front of me and gave me
a quartering away shot at 22 yards.

PLEASE DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPITALS. It is annoying. Thank you!

Hey Corey, Way to go...What a buck. Awesome job...I still miss ya. Your morals are second to none, this I knew from the first day I met you. Well Corey, you made Tyler's day!!!Thank you for signing his hat and for spending so much time with him. Not only did you bring so much joy to his day, your gestures and kindness helped us feel "normal" again. All Tyler kept talking about was you and the deer. Corey, I can't thank you enough for yesterday, for one day, Tyler had a smile on his face from ear to ear. Your sincere "love" is something that we will never forget. Tyler went to sleep last night with his newly prized posession, his "lucky" hat signed by you. Thank you so much for bringing so much joy into his life. All he is talking about is going hunting with you next year. You may not know this, you have been his true hero, long before we even met you; and for you to spend so much time with him and to sign his hat, offer to take him hunting, etc., truly means the world to us. God Bless you Corey, thank you so very much for yesterday, Tyler is on Cloud 9, all thanks to you. Love Karen M.

Hi Corey, Congrats on the buck. My son has your picture hanging up, you are his idol! What a story, thanks for being his role model, all he talks about is being a deer hunter like "Corey". Way to go!!! Not only have you accomplished a goal, you have set such a standard by showing people to respect nature and not to exploit it for their sole benefit, I truly admire how humble you are. We are so proud of you, Tyler has a new "Hero"...Thank you......

Hey, Great Job!! What a deer! It could not have happen to a better person...To see you succeed as a deer hunter is only second to the person who you are, with your intergrity and heart. It is little wonder when you talk about deer and deer hunting your eyes well with tears, through your passion you have shown me that I am so lucky to have met you, you have shown me so much and helped me in ways that you have could never imagined. Thanks, you still mean the world to me...Still want to take me hunting?? Each time I see a deer, you come to mind....

When I heard of this huge deer shot from my Dad, of course you came to my mind, then to hear it was actually you, well I should have known. You are still my rock, I wish I was there when you pulled in the driveway to share that moment with you. Great job, no one deserves it more than you, I am sorry I am so late in saying that......Your bond with the Whitetail is something I now admire.........
