Brian Ameigh Bear
Live Weight: 550, Dressed: 440, Age: 7-10 Years

I shot this big bear on the first day of bear (gun) season @ 7 :30 in the morning, just got settled in my stand when I heard what sounded like deer running. I immediately noticed this bear crashing his way through the woods. After waiting to see if there were any cubs I decided on pulling the triger. The bear droped w/ 1 shot by my favorite rem 20gauge. I was suprised that the bear dropped as I watch bear hunting on tv and you always see them take off. I guess its were you put the shot.

After 2 1/2 hrs of wrestling this bruiser out of the woods we got him home, and wow what a head turner. The Dec says he was the 4th bear killed in my region this year but the 1st gun kill and the biggest @ 515 live weight and 440 dressed. They guessed him to be between 7-10 yrs old. The skull will make Boone and Crockett which green scored @ 21 3/4 which I am very proud of. Looks like I don't have to spend that 3 grand next yr on a bear hunt in canada as that was the plan for next summer. Thanks and best of luck to all hunters in the future. You have to be in the woods to see em.

I wanted to thank the land owner steve for letting me hunt his property and my friend Mike sweet and dad Randy Ameigh for helping get the bear out of the woods also the bear will be mounted as a full mount by Bob foster @ fosters taxidermy

great bear Brian, congratulations. It seems the bear numbers are on the rise and there areas are expanding. I have yet to see one in our area but we have more reports of sightings. Yes getting them out of the woods would be a chore. That skull measurement is large, GOOD SHOOTING too. Yes we have to be in the woods to see em. More and more hunters say they see no deer? You can,t see em from your vehicle or mohogany ridge. GET OUT THERE Thanks for the post brian.

Brian,
You always make things interesting ( Bears hanging in my front yard). When you do something you always go BIG. As always I am very proud you in all that you do, and even though I feel bad for the Bear, I am very proud of the hunter you are, not too many people can say they have shot a bear. It certianly brought alot of traffic to normally peaceful street.
Very Impressive!
Love Mom

nice job brian !!! congradulations. you should be exceptionaly proud being the bear was not shot over a bait, like 99% of the bears taken are. if boone and crockit had a category of bears taken not over baits , you would probably be #1. cogradulations.
