Ameigh's Bear Claws It's Way to the Top, Top 50, and Boone & Crockett
The first bear Brian Ameigh ever saw in New York State may be the biggest one that any of us ever sees. Shot in West Emira, New York on November 24th, 2007, the bear carries the following accolades:
  • Biggest bear ever taken in Chemung County
  • Biggest bear taken in New York State with a gun in 2007
  • 49th largest bear on record in New York State
  • Qualifies for Boone & Crockett Awards Category
Green score at 21 3/4, the bear officially netted 20 2/16 after the official 60 day drying period. Brian is getting a full body mount of the bear once it is officially scored by Boone & crockett and just got the 8 point back that he also harvested in 2007. As Brain said, "I hope I can find room for all this stuff in the house but we'll find room one way or another."
You can see Brian and his bear at the New York State Big Buck Club Awards Ceremony tentatively scheduled for September, 2008. You may also catch him in the #10 car at Chemung Speedrome as Brian is an active Stock Car driver.

great bear Brian, congratulations. It seems the bear numbers are on the rise and there areas are expanding. I have yet to see one in our area but we have more reports of sightings. Yes getting them out of the woods would be a chore. That skull measurement is large, GOOD SHOOTING too. Yes we have to be in the woods to see em. More and more hunters say they see no deer? You can,t see em from your vehicle or mohogany ridge. GET OUT THERE Thanks for the post brian.

Brian,
You always make things interesting ( Bears hanging in my front yard). When you do something you always go BIG. As always I am very proud you in all that you do, and even though I feel bad for the Bear, I am very proud of the hunter you are, not too many people can say they have shot a bear. It certianly brought alot of traffic to normally peaceful street.
Very Impressive!
Love Mom

nice job brian !!! congradulations. you should be exceptionaly proud being the bear was not shot over a bait, like 99% of the bears taken are. if boone and crockit had a category of bears taken not over baits , you would probably be #1. cogradulations.
