The New York Outdoor News has posted the following news items to their Website for February 04, 2010 including a five year deer management plan that the DEC is developing, an overview of the Sportsmen and Outdoor Recreation Legislative Awareness Day in Albany on January 12, 2010 attended by National Rifle Association Executive Vice President/CEO Wayne LaPierre, Corey Wiktor's fake antler sheds including quotes from the taxidermist who sells the replicas with some other interesting quirks, and the backlash the DEC is already facing from the fire-sale on lifetime licenses in 2009.

This is the largest buck we have posted for the 2009 season overall. Steve Sheffield took this monster buck in the West Town of Dunkirk on Sunday, November 1st of the 2009 bow season in New York. Sporting 11 points and a gross green score of 176, it is a true giant. Great tracking job too!

DEC Adopts Ten-year Management Plan for Ring-necked Pheasants

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Pete Grannis today announced the adoption of a new plan to guide DEC's management actions for wild and state-propagated ring-necked pheasants for the next decade. The document revises DEC's 1999 version of "A Ten-Year Management Plan for Ring-necked Pheasants in New York."

QDMA Posts 2010 Whitetail Report to their Website - 77 Pages of Good Stuff

The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) has released it's 2010 Whitetail Report. The manual is 77 pages long and chock full of all sorts of goodies including how states compare in management practices, a wealth of information from case studies done on whitetails, and general management information including where the herd is and where it is going. There is not much they do not cover in the report.
