Does anyone know where the deer ages are coming from? I assume it is statical sampling done by ECOs, but am not sure. .....

2009 Deer Harvest Numbers Released - Virtually Same Take Count as Last Year

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has released deer harvest numbers for the 2009 deer season in NY. It may come as a surprise to some but the take count was basically the same as last year (222,000).

DEC Releases 2009 Bear Harvest Numbers

New York bear hunters had their second best year ever in 2009 with 1,487 bears being taken. 814 were taken in the Adirondacks, 179 were taken in the Central-Western (Allegany), and 494 were taken in the Catskills.

This is probably the best evidence we have seen that someone did actually see a mountain lion in New York State. This comes from WIVB Buffalo about a cougar sighting in Allegany County in 2008.

Bjorn Holubar's MONSTER non-typical archery buck harvested on Long Island during the 2009 archery season has been officially scored. With special appreciation to the New York State Big Buck Club, we have some of the numbers and a photo from the scoring session. Sporting 20 points and 55 inches of non-typical points, it took NYSBBC Measurer Chairman Dick Johndrow 3 hours to score the buck!

Raul Medina of Fort Drum, NY took this dandy 9 point on November 08, 2010 in Fort Drum New York during the 2009 archery season in New York. The buck grossed in the 150s and netted in the 140s. Finding him wasn't easy but Raul never gave up.
